South Manheim Township Awarded $315,250 LSA Grant

Investing in Our Community 

South Manheim Township is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $315,250 Local Share Account (LSA) grant toward the purchase of a wheeled excavator and attachments. This grant will provide the Township with valuable new equipment for maintaining roads, drainage and other infrastructure while reducing the cost to local taxpayers.

The Board of Supervisors understands that rising costs and the recent countywide reassessment have placed additional financial pressure on many residents. The Board remains committed to being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars and getting the best possible value for every dollar spent.

South Manheim Township has a long history of keeping taxes low. The Township went decades without raising its municipal tax millage, and in 2024, the Board voluntarily reduced the millage from 1.646 mills to 1.5 mills. Following the countywide reassessment, the millage was adjusted to 0.249 mills as required under the revenue-neutral process.

Despite maintaining a low tax burden, the Township has continued to invest in the community. Over the past 15 years, the Township has improved the grounds around the Municipal Building, constructed an addition to the garage, is currently adding to the Municipal Office, purchased several pieces of new equipment, increased the number of road miles addressed through the annual road project, increased line painting and made numerous other improvements to Township facilities, roads and infrastructure.

The LSA grant is another example of the Township's commitment to finding ways to make necessary improvements and investments without increasing the burden on local taxpayers.
