South Manheim Couple Takes Prize in Ignite Schuylkill Competition!
Angela and Josiah Meck of Deibert’s Valley Road have been named the winners of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce’s Ignite Schuylkill Competition! This event, a collaboration between the Schuylkill Chamber Foundation and Wise Owl Consulting, is designed to spark non-traditional economic growth by supporting small business innovation. The Mecks were awarded $100,000 in startup capital to launch their exciting new venture, The Farm Store—a farm-to-table grocery store.
The Farm Store will proudly feature products from local farmers and producers, providing clean, healthy food to the Schuylkill County community. In doing so, it aims to address the food desert created by the closure of several local grocery stores in recent years, offering residents access to fresh, high-quality foods in the heart of downtown Pottsville.
The Meck family has deep roots in South Manheim Township. They are the proud owners of Honey Brook Farm, a stunning small family-run farm on Deibert’s Valley Road that has been in Angela’s family for generations. At Honey Brook Farm, the Mecks raise and sell beef, pork, poultry, lamb, and bulk meat directly to consumers. Josiah’s expertise in milling adds another layer to their farm’s offerings, with custom milling services logs and beautiful slabs available. Honey Brook Farm also serves as a picturesque venue for events, making it the perfect spot for reunions, showers, graduation parties, and more.
Join us in celebrating the Meck family’s incredible achievement and wishing them tremendous success with The Farm Store! This is more than just a new business—it’s a community cornerstone in the making.
